We gathered in Ojai for a few quiet song-filled days, nourished by good food and community, and asked ourselves what it is we each desire to create in 2017. Our minds were on the people of all genders, ages, religions, and beliefs gathered in cities across the U.S. and the world, on all 7 continents, and we stood with them in spirit because despite our differences, or because of them, we know that we are stronger together.
In Ojai, against the backdrop of an international movement for kindness and compassion, we considered our past, our future, and our present, and fell into long moments of that other time - the MeanWhile, the one without clocks - where flow happens, and ideas are hatched, where self-awareness rises and self-consciousness dissolves. We shed tears for ourselves and others. We remembered stories of the past that made us who we are today. We gathered strength for the coming year and built meaningful relationships. We sang songs and wrote true stories about our lives. We walked between mountains, drank wine as direct from the vine as it can get, soaked in the steamy pool, and asked the universe for help in realizing our dreams. I am grateful for all the marchers. And I am grateful for the sweet, sweet soulful human beings who helped to bring this vision we had of stories, songs, yoga, and delicious food, Create and Flow, into being. It was the first Create and Flow immersion, but not the last. Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may our actions this year -- internal, external, personal, political -- help to bring happiness and freedom to every creature in every corner of this beautiful, complicated country and this beautiful, complicated, incredible planet Earth.
